Dharmanatha
The fifteenth Tirthankara.
The fifteenth Tirthankara, born at Ratnapuri. His name is simply the dharma itself, and images of him are consequently common; the Hutheesing temple at Ahmedabad, built in 1848, is dedicated to him.
The vajra — the thunderbolt — is his emblem, one of the few in the list that is an object of power rather than an animal.
The narrative record is thin. What he has instead of a story is a name that made him a natural dedication for temple builders, which is its own kind of afterlife.
Tradition preserves the name, the emblem, the places and the position in the sequence for every Tirthankara, but distinctive narrative for only a handful. For this figure there is little beyond what is above — and saying so is more useful than three invented paragraphs. Where a well-sourced account exists that we have missed, we would like to hear about it.
This figure is known from tradition; there is no independent historical evidence. That is a statement about the record, not about the tradition.
